Calming the Sea That is You

This is a wonderful visualization technique that I find extremely helpful and which many people, especially children, find they are able to easily do. It is simple, and with that simplicity comes the great potential. The main reason it IS so full of potential and power is because it is performed by you, for you, with your full and Present consent! There is nothing so responsive and powerful as being responsible. (In other words, we get out what we put in!) There is nothing so nurturing than loving yourself enough to be responsible. This is something that you and your children can DO anytime, anywhere, and without any exterior tool of any kind! There may well be days when you will feel like doing this 5 times per hour all day long, and there may be days where you might do this only once and weeks when you don't feel the need at all. Every time you perform this, you are taking back your power and you are choosing to nurture yourself in a very direct manner. The beauty of this technique extends beyond we ourselves as well. Are there others in your daily life that confuse you with words or actions sometimes ? You may also choose to take a brief look at their "sea" as well. I have found for myself that it is extremely comforting to me in a deep way to know that those confusing actions or words are manifestation of a rough sea! That it doesn't erupt out of nowhere. Just to simply know this has many times for me turned confusion into compassion, patience and love. At the very least, if we know that we are engaged with someone riding a rough sea then we are not surprised (traumatized) and we won't feel the need to "lock in" these experiences. We can, in other words, let the flow continue on.

The Technique:

Picture a large body of standing water, either ocean or lake. While doing this, the intent is that you ARE that body of water. So how does it look? Is it smooth as glass , are there some minor waves , are there a few white caps here and there or is your sea downright stormy and rough? Take as much time as you need in order to get a picture of some sort that depicts you as this sea. This can be the hardest part , because in order to do this you are pulling many layers together and awakening your intuitive skills.

Once you do have a firm vision of you as this sea, then you may decide what you would like to do. You can smooth out any waves and storms and can watch as your sea becomes visibly calmer...as you DO this visually, you ARE smoothing your own self. You ARE the sea. If you smooth the sea, then you are smoothing you. You can stand wherever you happen to be on Earth, and pull up the Sea that is You at any time. You can do this with eyes open or closed. You can do this however you feel will work best for you. As long as the sea is you, then that is what matters. You may not even wish to calm your sea all the way, as this may not be for the highest purposes of all at that moment. You may not want to calm anything at all. Especially if you are pulling up a view of someone else's "sea", you may only wish to look. If you feel guided to help them smooth their sea, then this is possible to the extent that you are centered and working in unconditional love. This is really excellent between parent and child (and vice-versa)!

Getting Fancier:

That is all there is to this technique! If you want to explore this method in more detail then that is certainly possible. If you have calmed your sea that is you, then you have calmed what I term the Total energyfield. There are many parts and layers which make up this total you and depending upon what activities or whom we are with from moment to moment, we will be more aware of these parts of ourselves. Calming your total "sea" will certainly take the stress level down several notches for all parts of you, but it may not bring all of the parts to a smooth-as-glass condition. Especially those that come to your awareness as you pass through your daily life. This is when you can apply the technique in a more targeted fashion. For example, do you feel panic or nervous stomach tension before taking a test ? Then you may call up your sea of solar plexus. This would be the general flow of your Solar Plexus chakra which includes stomach. Knowing that this sea IS your solar plexus flow, you can go ahead and work to bring it to a more peaceful and calm state.

How does your little toe feel after you stub it on the furniture? How does your knee feel after your team mate tackles you in football and his helmet hits too low? How about your Mental capacity in general as you start math homework. These are all "parts within you": that can be calmed specifically. I recommend first calming your total sea and then working specifically. This all need only take seconds and yet it can well mean all the world to you!

What if... you just got done calming your sea of solar plexus and find it is rough again after a few minutes? Does this mean you didn't do it correctly? Not at all. It means that you need to take a deeper look at your solar plexus energy , from as many perspectives as you can get. You need more sensory information. It may mean a search within for more parts of the total you that need smoothing in tandem with your solar plexus. What comes to mind? Place them all together in one sea and work to smooth them as a team.

The potency behind such work is to believe in your powers of smoothing no matter what you are faced with. It can be so easy to get discouraged if we find our sea of whatever on a particular day having a hard time to hold a state of calm. There are so many possible reasons for this. But one of them is NOT that you aren't capable of working this technique and / or of taking back your power! This method - as all methods - are ways to provide us very consciously with the wealth of sensory that our subconscious picks up every moment of our existence. To use this technique or any technique is all about tapping into information that we always have available and placing it into formats so that we can consciously use it to shape our lives. It is about learning how to tap into our senses and how to use our senses. Otherwise known as flowing with our intuitive and or moving to the rhythm of our heart! It is not a recipe for helping us feel powerless, rather, it is a mandate for a lifetime of joyful sensory exploration! (For more on this concept please see article entitled "Senses and Feelings". )
